Why I have to declare sole proprietor's / entity's tax residency when I open an MPF account?

Since the requirements relating to "Automatic Exchange of Financial Account Information" (AEOI) apply to MPF schemes starting from 1 January 2020, for all new MPF accounts open on or after this date, the account holders must complete the Tax Residency Self-Certification to declare whether the sole proprietor / entity is a tax resident outside Hong Kong. If you fail to provide the Tax Residency Self-Certification, we are not able to complete the account opening procedures for you.
